The new metro station at Santa Maria del Pianto designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners , will be on Metro Linea 1 between Poggioreale and Capodichino, close to the north entrance of the Cemetery of Santa Maria del Pianto. It will provide easy access to the surrounding areas and a new route into the city from the north east of Naples. The transport hub will include a bus station for 45 buses, parking for up to 1,500 cars and a concourse for arriving and departing passengers with ticket sales, restaurants and retail. It is of strategic importance to the region, economically and socially and provides a catalyst for the regeneration of a neglected, inaccessible area, aiming to create a new point of access for the city. In facilitating better use of the public transport systems, it will help to reduce the flow of vehicles on the main routes into the city.
