The birth of UAS is based on an attempt of finding a domain integrating academy and practice. We try to define an ideal for our work because only when we know “why” we work we know “how” to work. We believe that to do architecture is to design the life style, and is to create the value for the society through creating the interest for client, creating the place for city, and finding the space for creativity. We are concerned with openness, specificity and creativity in our practice. 1. Openness Architecture is a media of art, science, business and culture. We are concerned with this multi-value. We start our idea from an open vision and conduct our study with a multi-disciplinary approach. We make judgment with a comprehensive understanding of various points of view from designer, owner, city planner and user. 2. Specificity We consider each project as site specific, event specific, people specific and time specific. On a landscape of globalization and mass production and consumerism, we try to create value by exploring the specific character of each project and making it original. 3. Creativity Design is a creative work. We try to avoid preconceived concepts, avoid style. We refuse to make signature architecture. We believe design is a process of exploration. To make architecture we have to keep questioning and there is no ready-made answer. Our projects vary from cultural, institutional, sports to commercial. Completed projects include: l Beijing Xicuilu ocean entertainment center, l Beijing Jinbaojie complex( collaborated with Atelier Raimund Abraham) l Rizhao commercial complex, Shandong province l Tianjin Taida Vantone housing planning design (International competition) l Tsingdao Jiangshan south avenue urban design Work in progress: l Stadium and sports complex in Northeast Normal University, Changchun l Urban design of redevelopment of brewery and pump factory in central weihai, Shandong Province l Master planning and design of housing, office towers, service apartment and shopping complex in Beijing Current openings: 1. Senior Project Architect This position requires design sensibility, direct project management and team leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years' experience as project manager and designer on a variety of building and planning projects, demonstrable project management, design skills, strong technical skills, computer skills, and the ability to work with staff, clients, and management at all levels. A degree in architecture and architectural registration is required. 2. Associate architect The ideal candidates will have 3+ years' experience on a variety of building and planning projects, demonstrable creativity, strong design skills and technical skills. A degree in architecture is required. 3. Entry level architect (Recent graduates) The ideal candidates will have some experience on real project, demonstrable creativity, strong design skills and technical skills, top-notch computer skills (including CAD, 3D Max, Photoshop, etc.).
