| KOKAISTUDIOS PRESENTATION Kokaistudios was established in 1999 by Italian architects Filippo Gabbiani and Andrea Destefanis. Building on the experience acquired over 10 years of working on a wide variety of architectural projects in Italy, Europe and the United States, they established the studio with an eye to expanding overseas to work on larger and more challenging projects. The firm's initial commissions ranged from restorations, to designing commercial and public cultural projects all over Europe and United States, and work with the European Commission on experimental greenhouses, the latter work garnering the firm several international awards for innovation in the use of solar energy. 2001 saw the opening of an office in Copenhagen as well as the establishment of our Restoration Department under the direction of Giuseppe Tonini, an expert in ancient stone, metal, and plaster restoration and a visiting professor at the University of Venice, Ca'Foscari. In 2002, Kokaistudios established permanent offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai to work on several architectural and interior design projects, the most important of which being the commission to restore and re-develop the prestigious Bund # 18 building on Shanghai's historic waterfront (www.bund18.com), project for which Kokaistudios have been recognized with the Award of distinction by UNESCO in the 2006 Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation programme Over the past 4 years Kokaistudios Team in Shanghai has developed several challenging and prestigious projects of architecture, renovation and interior design all over Greater China, and have been recognized and awarded for international prizes and competitions.
